- The Amazon Rainforest is located in South America and spans nine countries, with Brazil, Peru and Colombia having the largest share of this ecosystem. It is the largest rainforest in the world, covering approximately 5.5 million square kilometers.
Climate and Conditions
The Amazon has a humid tropical climate, with average temperatures of 25-30 °C and high relative humidity exceeding 80%. Rainfall is abundant, with annual precipitation of up to 3000 mm.
Plants:
Animals
Fauna and Flora
- Jaguar, anaconda, sloths, pink dolphins, poison dart frogs and more than 1,300 species of birds
- Trees such as mahogany, ceiba and rubber; medicinal plants; and thousands of species of orchids and bromeliads.
Relevance
The Amazon is considered the “lungs of the planet”, as it produces around 20% of the world's oxygen. It is a great regulator of the global climate and a vital source of fresh water, as the Amazon River is the largest in the world.
Dangers
Deforestation: For agriculture, livestock and mining. Forest fires: Often caused by human activities. Climate change: Affects rainfall and temperature patterns.
Relationship with Humans
Indigenous communities have inhabited the Amazon for thousands of years, maintaining a sustainable balance with nature. However, extractive activities endanger both biodiversity and indigenous cultures.

Preservation
International collaboration is essential to finance conservation project
Protected areas and nature reserves are being implemented.
It is crucial to support reforestation projects and promote ecological tourism.
Conclusion
The Amazon Rainforest is one of the richest and most vital ecosystems on the planet. Its protection not only benefits the species that inhabit it, but also all of humanity. It is a call to action to preserve this natural treasure before it is too late.
