-Its a structural élèment -Its extends horizontally -Its supported at only one end. In french : -Catalever bridge = pont à poutre en console -Catalever beam = poutre en console

what are the characteristic of such bridge ? :

-Doesn't need external bracing or support at the free end. -Relie on the streng and rigidity of the supportting materials.

What is the usual spans of cantilever bridge ? :

Its depend on its design and materials. -Short cantilever bridge (50m to 200m). -Medium cantilever bridge (200m to 500m). -Longest cantilever bridge (can go to 1000m).

Two abvantages of the cantilever bridges :

1- Long spanning capability -Can cover large spans without the need for intermediate support. 2- Efficient construction Process -Can be build in segment.

Two disabvantages of the cantilever bridges :

1- High construction Cost -Explain itself 2- Limited span for certain materials -Not the best option for extrmely long span.
