Thanksgiving in the Heart of America

Thanksgiving has marked the start of the holiday season for nearly four hundred years. The fourth Thursday in November is the long-awaited occasion for Americans to thank life, friends, relatives and God for what they have. Tradition dictates that it should be celebrated at home, and not in a restaurant, and the traditional menu is based on pumpkin and stuffed turkey.

Thanksgiving dates back to 1621, when the American territories were still British colonies. According to tradition, the Pilgrim Fathers of the Mayflower, a group of Puritan Christians, left the English port of Plymouth for the Americas to found a new city in which to put down roots
