Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in the United States of America each year on the Fourth Thursday of November. It's a holiday.People don't go to work and schools are closed.

Macy's Parade

Each year, on Thanksgiving day, the President of the United States receives a gift of two live turkeys. At a White House ceremony, the president traditionally "pardons" the National Thanksgiving Turkeys so they can live on a farm.

Each year, on Thanksgiving day, a gigantic parade takes place in the streets of New York City. There are giant helium-filled balloons, marching bands, songs and performances from Broadway musicals. Families watch it on TV all across the country.
