Cleopatra was born in Egypt, in 69 b.C. She's name means "glory of her father". She was the oldest daughter of King Ptolemy XII. Her mother is not known, possibly also name is Cleopatra. She had four siblings. She married with her brother Ptolomy XIII. Cleopatra reigned from 51 to 30 b.C. The marriage began a power struggle between the two husband and wife, until the king was beat by the men of Julio César.
Cleopatra was the first of her genaration to learn the Egyptian language through her Geek education. When her husband Ptolomy XIII died, Cleopatra married with Marco Antonio with whom she had three children. With the defeat of Accio, Marco Antonio commited suicide. To aboid becoming a prisioner and talking part in Accio's triumphal exhibition in Rome, Cleopatra commited suicide a few days later. Legend has it that she took her own life with an ase (a very poisnous viper) that was hidden in a basket of figs. She's one Egypt's more important figure.
