The Commonwealth is a diverse political association with historical roots in the British Empire, evolving to promote shared values and global cooperation among member nations. ▪ The term "Commonwealth" has evolved from its 17th-century republican origins to represent a modern, voluntary association of independent nations.▪ Established in its current form in 1949, the Commonwealth fosters international collaboration and shared goals among its members.▪ Member states, including former British colonies, work together on various global issues while maintaining their sovereignty.

The Commonwealth, comprising 56 countries with 2.5 billion people, over 60% under 30, views youth (ages 15-29) as essential to national development and invests in empowering them. Through the Commonwealth Youth Programme, active for over 50 years, it: •Promotes youth participation in decision-making and celebrates their contributions to democracy and development. •Supports governments in creating youth policies and increasing funding for youth initiatives. •Enhances youth work as a profession through education, training, and standards, while encouraging best practices and associations. We work to promote gender equality, women’s rights, and empowerment in social, economic, and political spheres.
