Austrailia- Great Barrier Reef
Whats Happening ?
Austrailias great barrier reef is expereincing changes due to climate change. Climate change is casuing the water to warm increasing the stress on corals causing coral bleaching, while also rising the sea level causing corals to be smothered by sediments being deposited. Also, due to the increased co2 from humans the ocean is becoming acidic, harming lots of ocean life.
Whats being done ?
Scientists are using many methods and practices to combat this change. Practices such as coral fraging, where we raise corals in captivity and then plant them in the wild are helping to restore the lost coral population from climate change. We can aslo help, doing things like reducing our emissions and reclying will help combat climate change and keep trash off of our reefs.
We are experiencing the same thing here in the U.S, places like the flordia keys and thier reefs are also being destroyed from climate change. This is affecting the area around it by tanking the ecosystems biodiversity and decreasing the tourism money that feeds the community due to the dying reefs.

Globaly this will end up decreasing the entire oceans coral population, also leading to a decrease in all sorts of reef fish and different organisms that depend on coral reefs to survive. It will also decrease everyones exposure to coral reefs, limiting people from seeing such wondercul things because they are dying
