Impacts
Solutions
Climate Change affects Miami in many ways. It causes extreme heat, floods, and storms. Due to increased carbon and greenhouse gases miami has 25 days a year of excessive heat. Temperatures reach over 105 degrees. This is extremely dangerous. Temperature changes have also lead to frequent storms and increased sea levels in the state of Florida but especially in Miami.
Miami has a "Miami Forever Climate Ready" plan that they hope to implement. This will include climate change workshops, surveys, and an interdepartmental Resilience Action Group within the Miami government. This plan is a collaboration of previous plans used by other cities. They hope to educate and improve their situation if this is implemented correclty.
Affects
Similiar Experiences
This effects the region and globe because rising sea levels, lead to increased coastal flooding, erosion, and saltwater intrusion into freshwater. This has global effects becasue it can cause frequent and intense storms, extreme heat waves, and potential displacement of coastal communities all around.
A city facing similiar circumstances is New Orleans. They are both coastal cities facing rising sea levels and stronger storms due to climate change. They both are extremely vulnerable to storm surges as well.
