Journalism

In June 2024, Preeti Chauhan in the Computer journal discussed how deepfake technology is able to create anchors who present news that is geared to the viewer. In addition, deepfake technology allows an easy way to change the language of a reporter by dubbing in a quick process allowing the spread of information globally.

Education

In June 2024, Preeti Chauhan discussed in the Computer journal how deepfakes are allowing for historical figures events to be brought to life. Holographic displays of these people and events allow for a better learning experience for people. In addition, deepfake technology allows for easy transformation of videos from one language to another which allows for people all around the globe to learn from the material.

Grieving

In June 2024, Preeti Chauhan shared in the Computer journal how deepfake technology is allowing for people grieving from the death of someone close to them by being able to have realistic interactions with a deepfake version of the one who has died.

Medical Sciences

In June 2024, Preeti Chauhan explained in the Computer journal how Deepfake technology allows for the creation of synthetic data which can help in medical research. One instance is creating realistic electrocardiograms.

Entertainment

In July 2023, Gillian Murphy, Didier Ching, John Twomey, and Conor Linehan published in the PLoS One journal and Preeti Chauhanpublished in June 2024 in the Computer Journal. They both discussed how deepfake technology allows for easier access to visual effects at a reduced cost. This equates to less than 10 percent of what it typically would cost for these effects. This is because this technology allows for physical sets and locations to be replaced with virtual sets and backgrounds. In addition, deepfakes allow for the ability to edit videos without needing to reshoot the scene.
