How has climate change impacted Colombia?
Colombia is 10th globally in terms of economic risk posed by 3 or more environmental disasters. Climate change exacerbates the intensity and frequency of flooding and landslides in Colombia. As of November 10th, Colombia has been declared a state of disaster due to the recent damage affecting 27 of the country's 32 departments. Roughly 46,000 families affected.
What is currently being done to help combat or remedy the situation?
Law No. 1931 of 2018 establishes the guidelines to manage climate change, focusing mainly on
actions to adapt to climate change and to mitigate greenhouse gases.
