1. How has climate change impacted this area?

As the oceans have warmed, tropical storms activity has become more frequent and intense, leading Pasco to be ravaged by two intense hurricanes this year, causing rare historic flooding.

2. What is currently being done to help combat or remedy the situation?

Homes are still being repaired from flood damages, and many businesses and infrastructure are also still heavily damaged. The Anclote River had never had any flood prevention measures due to the rarity of the flooding, but as more hurricanes affect the area in the future from climate change, methods will have to be put in place.

3. Where else in the world is experiencing a similar form of climate change?

The Phillipines have been hit by 4 typhoons in the last 10 days, as typhoons are the name for hurricanes that manifest in Asia. Other asian countries like Japan, China, Vietnam and Myanmar have also been hit with historic typhoon activity in 2024, mirroring the western hemisphere's hurricane season.
