History
Basketball was invented in December 1891 by the physical education professor, James Naismith in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. Naismith was tasked with creating a game that could be played indoors during the winter months, which involved movement but was less violent than American Football or even Football. Naismith wrote down 13 basic rules and hung a peach or apple basket at each end of a gymnasium with a simple goal of throwing the ball into the basket of the opposing team.
The 13 rules
The Ball: The game is played with a round ball (originally a soccer ball) and a goal (a peach basket) at each end of the court. The Players: Each team consists of nine players. The teams aim to score by shooting the ball into the opposing team's basket.
Rules and the Court
Basketball evolved during the time and so its rules. Some of today's rules are totally different than what they were before
Nowadays basketball is played between two teams of five players each and 5 substitutes for each team. The game is played in 4 periods of 10 minutes each and in the NBA each part is 12 minutes. The court of basketball is rectangular and it measures 28 meters high and 15 meters in width. It is divided into two halves, with a centre line, a three-point line, and two key areas called the "paint" or "key" around the basket.
More of the Rules
The rules have changed over the time and there are new rules that were invented and some other rules that did existe but were reformulated to make basketball a better and more entertainment game to watch.

The History of NBA
The NBA (National Basketball Association) is one of the most popular and prestigious basketball leagues in the world, considered the premier professional basketball competition globally. Since its inception in 1946, the NBA has become a symbol of athletic excellence, innovation, and entertainment.
NBA Structure
The NBA consists of 30 teams divided into two conferences: the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Each conference is further divided into three divisions, with five teams in each division. NBA teams play an 82-game regular season, where they face teams within their conference and division, as well as teams from the opposing conference.
Global Impact of NBA
The NBA’s impact extends far beyond the United States. The league has significantly expanded internationally, with games broadcast worldwide and players from various countries joining the league. International stars like Dirk Nowitzki (Germany), Yao Ming (China), Manu Ginóbili (Argentina), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece) have helped solidify the NBA as a global league.

Many iconic moments have marked the history of the NBA.
