Climate Change in alaska

Climate change has been extremely harsh to Alaska as it has done a magnitude of things to worsen their conditions. Such things include, the melting of glaciers, coastal communities are experiencing flooding/ erosion, climate change is affecing the salmon population forcing fisheries to shut down, the fire season has been lengthened due to warmer temperatures and drier conditions.

There is a long list of things that are being done in order to combat the climate change in Alaska. Some of these things include creating a climate plan, developing a climate change strategy, creating more sustainable uses of energy including how to heat their homes etc.

Antartica

Antartica faces very similar problems such as Alaska. The change is affecting the region around it by causing glacier melting and ecosystem change such as the decline of penguin and krill population.

The global effects that climate change in Anartica cause are catastrophic. The glaciers contain so much water that the complete melting of them would show many feet increase of the global sea level. This would result in many cities being submerged, and hundred of thousands of homes destroyed. The amount of lives displaced and damage done by this high of a sea level rise would be astronomical.
