Given the prompt, your 1st sentence, or your topic sentence, should be a restate of the question and your answer.Your restate and answer should state what the author said about the connection between a brand and human behavior.
  • What did he say about how branding influences us?
  • What did he say about how we behave or react toward branding?

Genially

For your textual evidence, you will use only a specific phrase or an important part of a quote from the text. Once you have selected the phrase or part of the quote to use, you will then integrate it into your sentence "so that it creates a seamless flow of an idea or complete thought" (1). In other words, it will emphasize the part of the text that supports what you're saying in your own writing. Notice that there is a parenthetical citation at the end of the quote, directing the reader to the section of the text—in this case, the paragraph—where your in-text quote can be found.

Afterward, you will explain and elaborate on the relevance or importance of your evidence to your answer. You might begin by stating something like:
  • This evidence from the text shows..
  • This evidence from the text proves...

Extend or Connect

  • This reminds me of when...
  • I can relate because...
  • This is true in the world today because...
