Durante la colonizzazione i greci arrivarono ad occupare una vasta parte del Sud Italia rinominata dunque 'Magna Grecia'.

Si tratta di una colonia greca ancora oggi visibile in Sicilia, nella città di Messina.

Taormina

Si dice che quando venne conquistata dagli arabi tutti i soldati e gli uomini vennero decapitati

I suoi abitanti vivevano di agricoltura o pastorizia

Le origini della città non sono attendibili e nemmeno ben documentate

Ospitò anche alcune scene di:'Il Padrino'.

Ha inspirato una canzone di Mark Knoplfer:'Light of Taormina'.

Il luogo è famoso in tutto il mondo per la sua bellezza

Lo stemma della città raffigura una donna centauro

Le colonne sono in marmo

Altezza=20 metri

Lo sfondo scenico è dato dall'Etna.

Andò in rovina assieme all'Impero

Venne adattato per i combattimenti dei gladiatori

Nonché la sede di molti eventi.

IL TEATRO GRECO ROMANO

• Shopping e gastronomia: boutique, negozi di artigianato, caffè e ristoranti tipici. • Monumenti: Cattedrale di San Nicolò, e altre chiese storiche.

• Principale via pedonale: collega Porta Messina a Porta Catania. • Architettura storica: edifici che spaziano dal greco-romano al barocco siciliano. • Piazza IX Aprile: vista panoramica su Etna e mare, con la Chiesa di San Giuseppe.

• Accesso: Raggiungibile a piedi (escursione) o tramite una funivia che parte dal centro città. • Oggi: Parzialmente in rovina, ma comunque affascinante, rappresenta uno dei punti panoramici più belli di Taormina.

• Posizione: Situato sulla cima di una collina, sopra il centro storico di Taormina. • Origini: Costruito dai Normanni nel XII secolo, ma con successivi rimaneggiamenti. • Vista panoramica: Offre una vista spettacolare su Taormina, l’Etna e il Mar Ionio.
