He born on October 31, 1892 in Moscow (Russia)

Family: Father (Alexander Ivanovich Alekhin): he was a Russian public figure, member of the State Duma of the province of Voronezh, the landowner of the Voronezh province. Mother (Anisya Ivanovna Alekhina): She was the main reason why her son became the world chess champion since she supported him in playing chess. Studies: Alekhine studied at the University of Paris; at the Imperial School of Jurisprudence; and at St. Petersburg State University

3.Main achievements (Why is he/she famousfor?/What did he/she achieve?)

Why is he famous for?Alexander Alekhine was a world chess champion between 1927 and 1935 and from 1937 until his death, known for using a wide variety of attacks. But the highlight for Alekhine was his play in the legendary St. Petersburg chess tournament of 1914, which attempted to bring together the 20 best players in the world at that time. What did he/she achieve? He was World Champion for 17 years with a total of 5 World Championship matches played. He played more than 1,000 Tournament games, achieving a 73 percent win rate.

Death

He died on March 24, 1946 in Estoril (Portugal)

Legacy and Awards

Legacy: Alexander Alekhine invented a defense that was later called the alekhine defense. Alekhine introduced it in the Budapest tournament of 1921, in games against Endre Steiner and Fritz Sämisch. Awards: Campeón del mundo de ajedrez y Campeón del mundo de ajedrez Order of Saint Stanislaus, además de otros numerables premios.

Personal opinion (Why have you chosen that person?)

I chose Alekhine for my English project because he was a very important chess player, and his style was unique and creative. His story as a world champion is interesting, and I think it’s a great topic to learn more about him.
