When Plymouth settlers and Wampanoag Native Americans shared a meal to celebrate the harvest.

Ingredients:

For the shortcrust pastry:

  • 250 g flour
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 4-5 tablespoons of cold water

For the filling:

  • 500 g homemade pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 200 ml condensed milk

Method:

Fot the shortcrust pastry:In a bowl, mix the flour with the salt and sugar. Add butter and cold water one tablespoon at a time. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. For the pumpkin filling: Cut the pumpkin into pieces and bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes until soft. Let the pumpkin cool. Put the pumpkin in the blender. Combine the pumpkin puree with eggs, brown sugar, spices, and salt. Add the condensed milk. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Roll out the shortcrust. Pour the pumpkin filling into the dought. Bake for about 50-60 minutes. Let cool and serve with whipped cream.
