THE GUILLOTINE

This period is called the terror The inventor of the guillotine is called Joseph Guillotine. He said that the Guillotine was humane and made no distinction between poor or rich, your level of wealth didn't matter because this method of death worked for everyone So, the death of Louis VXI marks the beginning of the terror. In the period of terror, 16000 enemies died by the guillotine, including Marie Antoniette. The Comittee of Public Safety changed the measurements of time, so they renamed all the months and decided that each day would have 10 hours and each hour 100 minutes. After the terror, the revolution pulled back and a new constitution was put into place, giving a lot of more power to rich people.

1. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PERIOD OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION?

Napoleón 1769-1821

I think that they might have been happy to have a soldier likeNapoleon, because of his great physical abilities. He won many battles, was a very intelligent man, and, of course, it could be very helpful for the people to have someone like Napoleon to defend them, as in any battle, Napoleon could fight with his army and probably emerge victorious. He also had a great leadership spirit. However, I don't think they were very happy with his governance. He was a very narrow minded and egocentric man, he prohibed women from doing anything, and he lied to his people. Still, as a soldier, I understand why they would be pleased with him. He would be very helpful to them

2. Why do you think that the people of France might have been glad to have a soldier like Napoleon Bonaparte take over the running of the country?

The discovery of Champollion came by looking at names.Ptolemy was Greek, and in hieroglyphic text, his name was approximated phonetically. So comparing his Greek name and his hieroglyphic name, Champollion was able to figure out what sounds the characters relationated to. He unlocked a giant part of the writting system

Jean François Champollion tried to translate the Rosette stone, but he didn't progress much because in the 5th century, Horapollo wrote a book about hieroglyphics, that was completely wrong, and everyone thought that it was right. The book said that the hieroglyphics were ideographics.

1808

Napoleon went to Egypt, Directed to Rosetta, found the rockand decided it was his, but the brithish came, found it and decided that it was theirs. It was then brought to a museum situated in London. The meaning of this stone is that it was wrote in 3 parts and in each part there're different systems of egypt: Hierolyphic, Demotic and Greek. The first 2 couldn't be understood but the third one has been spoken and written for thousands of years

He wrote a short novel called Clisson and Eugénie. It tells the story of a young soldier disillusioned with life and love, reflecting some of his experiences

There were highly complex and required years of training. Only a small group of educated scribes and priests could read and write them, that made them highly respected in ancient Egyptian society

Napoleon was the objetive of many people to kill him, there were poisoning attempts and bombings. The most famous was when they put explosives on his carriage in the 1800

Over time, the style of hieroglyphs changed depending on the era and the materials used.

Hieroglyphics were in use for over 3000 years, from around 3100 BC until the 4th century AC.

Napoleon made a hunting to celebrate a military victory, but the rabbits instead of escaping they attacked him.
