Present simple (affirmative)

Present simple (affirmative)

IMPORTANT THING

1^

The first person "I" is ALWAYS in capital letters!!!! "i" is just the letter.
Traduzioni: capital letters= lettere maiuscole. Infatti il tasto per mantenere le lettere maiuscole sulla tastiera si chiama "CAPS-LOCK" perché appunto "locks", "blocca" le lettere maiuscole. Un altro modo per dire "maiuscolo" è: "uppercase".

IMPORTANT THING

2^

To conjugate most verb in the third person just add an "-s". For those which end with an "-s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -z, -o", it will be necessary to add "-es"
Traduzioni: To conjugate= coniugare

IMPORTANT THING

3^

"It" can be used both for objects or for living beings with an unknown gender
Traduzioni: Living beings = esseri viventi. unknown = sconosciuto/i gender = genere

Present simple Negative

Present simple (negative)

IMPORTANT THING

1^

For the negative form of simple past you only have to add the auxiliary "don't" or "doesn't" if the verb is not to be / to have / to do.
Traduzioni: Auxiliary = ausiliare

Present simple Interrogative

Present simple Interrogative

IMPORTANT THING

1^

"Does" is the auxiliary for the interrogative form of present simple. When used, the verb must be expressed in its infinite form.

SHORT ANSWERS

When receiving a question that starts with "do", the answer must be short. The answer can be affirmative (Yes, I do) or negative (No, I don't). Same if it starts with are / am / is (Yes, I am / No I am not...)

The five Ws

What Where Who hoW When

The five Ws

When asking a question using the five Ws, it's important to know that the answer CAN'T be short. An answer in English is considered "short" when it starts with "yes" or "no".

SPORTS

If the sport involves a change in the position: the verb "go" is used. If the sport involves the use of a ball: the verb "play" is used. If it doesn't meet any of these conditions: the verb "do" is used.

EXAMPLES

I do karate I go swimming I play tennis I go cycling I play volleyball I do boxing

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

They are used before all verbs BUT the verb to be.

EXAMPLES

I always go to the cinema. I am rarely happy in May. I never play videogames.

SUPER IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!

If you want to say you NEVER DO something, DON'T USE DON'T!!!!! If you do, you would double negate your negation making it affirmative!
