the hurricane

Hurricanes, which form every year over the warm tropical waters of the oceans, are one of the most devastating atmospheric phenomena in existence, being capable of generating extreme weather conditions and flooding across vast areas of a territory.

what is a hurricane:

what is a hurricane

Hurricanes form above the ocean because the water temperature is above 26°C. At these temperatures, the water that evaporates from the ocean surface turns into warm air that ends up condensing into increasingly dense clouds. The colder air that descends from the disturbance collides with the warm air that rises from the ocean and increasingly stronger winds begin to be generated. The winds blow in a circular direction due to gravity and the Earth's rotation. Storms that form north of the equator rotate counterclockwise. Storms south of the equator rotate clockwise. This difference is due to the Earth's rotation on its axis.

Flooding damages agriculture, contaminates water supplies, and causes disease outbreaks. Storm surges can erode coastlines and destroy critical wildlife habitats, such as coral reefs and mangroves, which act as natural barriers against hurricanes.

what impact do hurricsnes have on the environment?

Meteorologists have agreed to call only exceptionally strong winds a hurricane. As long as the winds remain below 119 km/h, they are called tropical storms; at higher speeds, cyclones are called true hurricanes and are classified, according to the Saffir-Simpson Scale, into 5 categories.
