Vencie Italy, much like many places in the world of being greatly affected by climate change. Venice has historicaly been very close to the water and water breaks up many parts of the city. Thus as water levels keep rising and it has been "almost 6 mm per year in noveber 2019".

What is being Done? To combat the rising tide Italy has employed a system called Mo.S.E, This system was expected to be done in 2018 but was postponed untll 2021. Mo.S.E is a collection of artifical barriers to isolate the lagoons from rising with the high tide of the ocean.

Another well known place for a similar effect of flooding is new orleans. To reduce and slow the impact of rising tides they implamented leveves and pump systems to reduce flooding the region.

Climb change has an effect on Venice because of how close it is to the water. As the water level rises flood becomes way more intense in the area. In recent years there has been more flooding events and the severity of them. There have been major flooding events in 2016, 2018, and 2019. This is not normal. This is causing devastation in the low lying parts of Venice. Harming people and property in the area.

The MO.S.E system employed by Italy works by rotating and lifting the gate up. This prevents water from the ocean from rushing in and causing the water level in the lagoons from rising too much. They system doesn't just effect Venues. But the many other parts of Italy that are affect by the rising tides. Thus this system helps protect the surrounding areas as they are too effected by the rising ocean levels.

Low lying cities and towns. Such as Venice and new Orleans are greatly affected by climate change. As the earth heats up due to the increase of green house gasses in the atmosphere. This in turn causes ice capes and ice sheets to melt. Causing water levels to rise. This effects cites likes these by not only causing more flooding occasionally but permanently once the water level raises high enough to submerge these places. The methods used by each place can help develop new methods to prevent flooding in these low laying areas from flooding.

This part of New Orleans is were the levee and pumps were built and improved after the 2005 hurricane Katrina. This new implementation is hoped to protect the area from the rising water levels temporary.
