DUSKCREST

Here we have the sister realm to Dawncrest. The two sit on opposite poles of the same suspended land mass, but only can access each other via portal travel. There is a stark comparison between the two realms as well. Dawncrest shimmers like the rays of the rising sun it's nestled in, whereas Duskcrest is awash with the darkened tendrils of the sky scorched by the setting sun.

However, luckily for us the Duskites always have someone stationed out here on the island. Poor fellow was terrified when we emerged though...

Similar to how we arrived in Dawncrest, there is an established portal to Duskcrest as well. The theory I had about The Shard being linked to one of these portals at all times was, indeed, correct. I'm so smart! Uh, unfortunately for us this portal is not located on the mainland...

Bleak Broodmire

The gloomy capital of Duskcrest

Broodmire, a city that was once the pinnacle of Duskite society now washed over in despair. With the lack of The Shard this realm has fallen into desolation and now Broodmire is the only place the Duskites can make habitable. It's quite sad, honestly, because you can see the love and care that went into the architecture and aesthetic of this place. It's so similar to Lumire, yet so very different...

A wasteland the stretches miles

The sad reality of Duskcrest. Without The Shard the Duskites cannot cultivate their lands properly. In its prolonged absence, the land has been slowly dying. It has pushed all civilization to Broodmire, but at one point Duskites used to love being dotted all across the mainland. They were apparently very good farmers because of how rich their soil could be.

• Livestock was actually their strongest agricultural asset.
• The Duskites lived in smaller, spread out clusters of people to share their land equally.
• Contrary to the Dawnites' claims, they are just as peaceful. Merely hardened by strife...

Their worship of The Shard also makes far more sense to me...

Holy Forgotten...

With the Duskites' permission, I was able to get a close look at their version of The Sheathe. Just like the mainland, the absence of The Shard has caused the life to drain from this isle. With it being pointless to maintain it, the Duskites let what is left of nature reclaim it.

Same Abyss, Yet So Different...

I can hardly believe this is the same Aetra Abyss we saw in Dawncrest. It looks just about the same, but the color is washed out. The feel of the Aetra is less like a warm embrace and more like the cold memory of one...
