CPS- Creative Problem Solving

How does the CPS process nurture creativity? CPS prompts students to come up with more ideas without being judged. It encourages divergent thinking. In Book 2, the video Convergent Thinking Versus Divergent Thinking by John Spencer, he explains that divergent thinking expands outward by generating multiple ideas. This CPS process encourages divergent thinking and promotes collaboration. What uses and types of problems can be analyzed using the CPS method? Any problem that would involve a creative solution, such as environmental problems or design challenges. In what ways could the CPS process be used for further classroom use? Provide classroom examples of how the tools might be used in content areas.Students are really into technology and their cell phones. Students can apply CPS to real-world projects, such as designing and creating a new app. As a teacher, I can use CPS to help students tackle challenges in various subjects, like writing a persuasive essay or conducting a science experiment.

How does the ALoU process nurture creativity?

  • Focuses on strengths and positive experiences: ALoU shifts the focus from problems to possibilities, inspiring optimism and innovation.
  • Encourages a future-oriented perspective: ALoU stimulates creative thinking about achieving desired outcomes.
  • Promotes collaboration and shared vision: ALoU involves collective inquiry, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
What types of problems can be analyzed using the ALoU method?
  • ALoU is particularly well-suited for organizational development and team building, but it can also be applied to personal and social challenges.
  • Examples include: Enhancing team building and fostering personal growth
In what ways could the ALoU process be used for further classroom use?
  • ALoU can be used to create a positive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Students can use ALoU to reflect on their strengths and goals.
  • Collaborative projects: ALoU can be used to foster teamwork and shared ownership of projects.
Provide classroom examples of how the tools might be used in content areas.
  • Language Arts: Students can use ALoU to analyze positive literary characters or discuss inspiring stories.
  • History: Students can use ALoU to explore historical figures who have positively impacted the world.
  • Science: Students can use ALoU to discuss the positive impact of scientific discoveries
  • Mathematics: With problem-solving strategies students can use ALoU to compare different mathematical approaches to solve a problem, considering the benefits and drawbacks of each method. Another example is with geometry proofs: Analyzing different proof strategies by identifying their strengths, limitations, and unique elements.

How does the PCA tool nurture creativity?Three examples of how Personal Creativity Assessment tools can nurture creativity is with Self-awareness, goal setting, and self-reflection:

  • Self-awareness: PCA helps individuals understand their unique creative strengths and weaknesses.
  • Goal setting: By identifying creative goals, PCA motivates individuals to develop their creative abilities.
  • Self-reflection: PCA encourages individuals to reflect on their creative processes and outcomes.
What types of problems can be analyzed using the PCA method?Sometimes there are creative blocks- in writing for example. Using the PCA method can be used for personal development and self-reflection. It can be used to identify areas for creative growth and to develop strategies for overcoming creative blocks. In what ways could the PCA tool be used for further classroom use?
  • Students can use PCA to reflect on their creative work and set goals for improvement.
  • In addition, PCA can be used to help students select and reflect on their best creative work and create a portfolio
Provide classroom examples of how the tools might be used in content areas. In Art, students can use PCA to reflect on their artistic process and set goals for future projects. In Music, students can use PCA to assess their musical skills and identify areas for improvement. In Drama students can use PCA to reflect on their performance skills and set goals for future performances

PCA Tool (Personal Creativity Assessment)

How does the Assisters and Resisters tool nurture creativity?

  • Encourages critical thinking by identifying obstacles and opportunities, this tool helps students overcome barriers to creativity.
  • Promotes problem-solving by analyzing a situation, this tool helps individuals develop effective strategies for achieving their goals.
What types of problems can be analyzed using the Assisters and Resisters method?Any problem that involves a complexity, such as personal or organizational challenges. How could the Assisters and Resisters tool be used for further classroom use?
  • In the classroom students can use this tool for decision-making to weigh the pros and cons of different options.
  • In the classroom for Problem-solving students can use this tool to identify obstacles and develop strategies for overcoming them.
Classroom examples of how the Assisters and Resisters tool might be used in content areas:
  • History: Students can use this tool to analyze the factors that led to historical events.
  • Science: Students can use this tool to identify the variables that influence a scientific experiment.
  • Language Arts: Students can use this tool to analyze the characters and plot of a story, or in writing an essay or a project display.

How does the Plan of Action tool nurture creativity? the Plan of Action tool can nurture creativity by setting clear and specific goals, this tool helps individuals focus their creative efforts. This tool can also promote organization by breaking down large tasks into smaller steps, this tool helps individuals stay on track and avoid feeling overwhelmed. What types of problems can be analyzed using the Plan of Action method? Any problem that requires a systematic approach to implementation can be analyzed using the Plan of Action. How could the Plan of Action tool be used for further classroom use? In math and other subjects with project planning, students can use this tool to plan and organize their projects. In addition with time management, students can use this tool to break down large assignments into smaller, manageable tasks. Classroom examples of how the Plan of Action tool might be used in content areas: In Science, students can use this tool to plan and conduct scientific experiments. In Math, students can use this tool to break down complex math problems into smaller steps, and arrive at a solution in a more creative way or their own unique way.In Language Arts, students can use this tool to plan and organize their writing process, to help them write more creativly.
