The Maldives
Maldivas
Maldives, independent island country in the north-central Indian Ocean. It consists of a chain of about 1,200 small coral islands and sandbanks (some 200 of which are inhabited), grouped in clusters, or atolls. The official language is an Indo-European language called Dhivehi (or Maldivian); Arabic, Hindi, and English are also spoken. Islam is the state religion. The Maldive Islands are a series of coral atolls built from the crowns of a submerged ancient volcanic mountain range

Major connecting airports
Dubai (DXB): Emirates offers numerous flights to Malé (MLE) from Dubai, making it a primary hub for connections. Doha (DOH): Qatar Airways provides extensive options for travelers connecting through Doha. Abu Dhabi (AUH): Etihad Airways is another major carrier with connections to Malé.
Travelled by sea
Currently, there are no regular ferry services to the Maldives from other countries. The only maritime option is to take a cruise that includes a stop at the islands. Cruises may depart from locations like Malaysia or Singapore, but this is not the most practical way to visit if you want to explore the islands extensively
Flight to Male
Most travelers arrive via Malé International Airport (Velana International Airport), which is located on Hulhulé Island, just a short ferry ride from Malé. Direct flights are not common, so you will likely have to make one or more stops in major cities such as Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, or London depending on your departure location
Transportation from Malé to Resorts
Once you arrive in Malé, transfers to your resort can be arranged. Depending on the distance, this may involve: Speedboat: Common for nearby resorts, usually taking between 20 minutes to an hour. Hidroavión (Seaplane): Used for more distant resorts, offering scenic views during the flight, typically lasting 20 minutes to an hour as well
More information
The atolls have sandy beaches, lagoons, and a luxuriant growth of coconut palms, together with breadfruit trees and tropical bushes. Fish abound in the reefs, lagoons, and seas adjoining the islands; sea turtles are caught for food and for their oil, a traditional medicine.
