Introduction to the Universe
The universe is the set of all matter, energy, space and time that exists.
The universe is estimated to be approximately 13.8 billion years old.
The universe is constantly expanding, as demonstrated by the observation of the redshift of galaxies. It contains trillions of galaxies, each with billions of stars.
The Galaxies
Galaxies are large collections of stars, gas, dust and dark matter. Our galaxy is the Milky Way, one of the billions of galaxies in the universe. Galaxies are grouped into galactic clusters. There are different types of galaxies: spiral, elliptical and irregular .
Star Formation
Stars form in nebulae, large clouds of gas and dust.
As the gas is compressed by gravity, the temperature increases and nuclear reactions begin.
Stars are born, live and die in different ways depending on their mass.
Some stars end up as supernovae, while smaller ones become white dwarfs.
The Solar System
Planets of the Solar System
Similar to Uranus, it is the last planet in the solar system and has a very active atmosphere
Similar in size to Earth, but with a dense and very warm atmosphere
Famous for its impressive rings, it is another gas giant
Known as the "red planet
JUPITER
URANUS
Mercury
EARTH
The closest planet to the Sun and the smallest in the solar system
The only known planet with life
SATURN
A frozen giant with a blue-green color due to methane in its atmosphere
The largest planet, a gas giant with an atmosphere of hydrogen and helium
NEPTUNE
Venus
