The Role of Congress in the Presidential Election

Congressional elections happen every two years. At that time, one-third of the Senate and every seat in the House of Representatives is u for election.Midterm congressional elections take place halfway between presidential elections. The most recent congressional elections were in November 2022. The next midterm elections will be in November 2026. After the election, the Electoral College resultsare sent to congress for certification, if any objections are raised regarding the results, they are debated and voted on by Congress.Congress can pass laws that affect elections, such a votings rights protections, ele tions security measures, and reforms. Congress also holds hearings to investigate any election-related issues, including election interference or voting irregularities.
