- He was born on 18 July 1918;
- Place: Mvezo, Eastern Cape, South African Union;
- Father: Nkosi Mandela;
- Mother: Nosekeni Fanny;
- Mandela had 12 brothers;
- Mandela always studied at black colleges.

He studied English, Anthropology, Politics, Native Administration, Roman Law and Dutch.

In 1942 he graduated in Arts.

In 1943, he enrolled in the law course, from which he graduated.

He joined the ANC party movement.
