• Calexico's habitants can't access easily to medecines, because of economical issues : they cross the border to get healthcares in Mexicali, which are less expensive and offer a better quality (more complex procedures like orthopaedics)
• Education budget are very low, but are recognized the bilingualism and the importance of the biculturalism (from Mexico and the United States), which are the identity of the two cities

• Main pillar of the cities economy : agriculture and industrial parks (manufacturing and distribution)

Presentation of Calexico

Calexico is situated on the border between the United States and Mexico. This city (with Mexicali, which is on the other side of the border) merge different cultures but also many conflicts. The habitants give a great importance about their american identity, their values and the founding principles of their democracy. According to Peter, a habitant, the city shows a big contrast with San Diego. Indeed, poetry defines Calexico, whith its alternating landscape (deserts, agricultural lands, canals...). Moroever, this place protects the ecosystem. In summary, this is not the United States or Mexico, but something else, the habitants created their own nation.

• Calexico looks up to Mexicali, the first wouldn't exist without the second. They are sister cities hand in hand
• The community is pretty small compared to the Capital Bakhali -> pretty close to Million people
• Both cities are the same, they have the same people, culture, food, families etc.. only the structure s different
• Thousands of people come across the border to work everyday (only legal people counted)
• Some people come for fun like tourists, to visit restaurants for example, but others come for shops, education, culture, and work
• Their Walmart is number one in sales in their Nations
• They have a lot of artists, they really enjoy art as it is part of their culture, Hispanic Families
