1. SUMMARY
Ischemic heart disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowing or blockage of blood vessels, caused by damage to the heart or blood vessels from atherosclerosis. A buildup of fatty plaque that thickens and hardens on the walls of arteries, which can inhibit blood flow through the arteries to organs and tissues and can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina), or a stroke. Other heart conditions, such as those that affect the muscles, valves, or rhythm, are also considered forms of heart disease. (OMS) Global Hearts is an initiative spearheaded by the World Health Organization involving various global actors, including the Centers for Disease Control and prevention of the United States (CDC) and Resolve to Save Lives, among other global actors. The Department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) leads the implementation of HEARTS in the Region of the Americas, ensuring that implementation actions are aligned with the strategic priorities of the region, particularly with the universal health coverage resolution, strengthening of health systems based on primary care and with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, specifically those related to the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCD)
1. SUMMARY
HEARTS is being implemented and expanded in 33 countries of the Region to include 6,052 health centers across the Region implementing HEARTS, which together cover approximately 39 million adults in the respective catchment areas. the HEARTS model will be the model for cardiovascular disease risk management, including hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia in primary health care in the Americas by 2025. In the municipality of Chinavita for the great cause Diseases of the circulatory system during the period between 2015 and 2019, the main subcause of death in the general population was ischemic heart diseases contributing the highest mortality rate in 2015 with 90.56 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, and the second subcause corresponded to hypertensive diseases.
2. Epidemiological data
Table 1. Chinavita asis disease identification.
WHO DATA OMS: An estimated 17.9 million people died in 2019 as a result of cardiovascular disease, representing 32% of all deaths worldwide. Of these, 85% were due to myocardial infarctions and strokes.
More than three quarters of deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases occur in low- and middle-income countries. Of the 17 million premature deaths (under 70 years of age) due to non-communicable diseases in 2019, 38% are attributable to cardiovascular diseases.

WHO response
In 2013, WHO Member States agreed on global mechanisms to reduce the avoidable burden of noncommunicable diseases, including a “Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases 2013-2020”. This Plan aims to reduce the number of premature deaths from non-communicable diseases by 25% by 2025 through nine voluntary global goals. Two of these goals focus directly on the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases.
Goal 6: Reduce the global prevalence of high blood pressure by 25% between 2010 and 2025. Target 8: At least 50% of eligible people should receive drug therapy and counseling (including glycemic control) to prevent heart attacks and strokes by 2025. Furthermore, target 9 establishes that 80% should be achieved in terms of the availability of basic technologies and affordable essential medicines, including generics, needed to treat major non-communicable diseases, in both public and private facilities. To achieve these goals, a large investment in health systems and strengthening them will be necessary. (0PS)
4. CURRENT STATUS OF THE SITUATION
Although not explicitly included in SDG 3, these issues are among the most immediate determinants of health and well-being. Governments, the private sector and civil society will have to innovate and adapt to meet the challenges posed by the 2030 Agenda, which incorporates a broader and more multifaceted vision of health and development than ever before.
