The Texas State government, just like the Federal government, is divided into 3 branches - Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Each branch has its own responsibilities, and checks and balances are in place to ensure that each branch is working together for the common good of the people and so one branch doesn't get too much power

The Ameican Government vs the government of Texas

The Texas Legislature is bicameral, meaning it’s composed of two chambers: the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate. This branch is responsible for making laws, establishing the state budget, and representing the interests of Texans. The U.S. government also is bicameral, and can propose new laws, and amend old ones. The Executive branch in Texas is led by the Governor, who serves as the chief executive officer of the state. The Governor is in charge of appointing heads of various state agencies. The U.S. Executive branch is led by the President, who also appoints Cabinet members and other key officials to help run various departments. Both the Texas Governor and the U.S. President have veto power over legislation, however a key difference is that the U.S. president's power is much greater than the governer's. The Texas judicial system includes various courts, with two supreme courts: the Texas Supreme Court for civil matters and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for criminal cases. The Texas judiciary interprets laws, ensures justice, and reviews court decisions. The U.S. judicial branch is similar in it's responsibilities, and keeps checks and balances on the other branches, however, Texas' judges are elected to their seats while federal judges are appointed.
