Inclusive leadership training is essential not only for fostering a diverse and equitable workplace, but also for unlocking the full potential of every team member. By embracing and understanding diverse perspectives, inclusive leaders drive innovation, enhance collaboration, and create a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best. Inclusive Leadership Experience accomplished exactly this.

– Tyng Loh, Senior Counsel Specialist, Assistant General Counsel

The Inclusive Leadership Program helped me form a more comprehensive understanding of what it takes to foster belonging, so we can cultivate a culture in which we can all bring our best, true selves to the work that we do. I came away from the program more intentional about generous and active listening, as well as mindfully noticing assumptions that may be at play in any given situation.

– Candy Gee, Chief of Staff Global Head of Operations and Chief Diversity Officer DIA US

Attending the inclusive leadership workshop with my DIA and pharma colleagues was a transformative experience. It deepened my understanding of DE&I and provided practical strategies for fostering an inclusive culture. The engaging content, real-world examples, and shared insights from peers across the industry have equipped me to lead with empathy, challenge biases, and drive meaningful change. It was a valuable investment in my personal growth and in strengthening our collective efforts to advance Inclusive Leadership in the organization.

– Jose Goin, Senior Director, PTQ

The Inclusive Leadership training significantly heightened my awareness of personal biases and underscored the immense value of developing cultural intelligence. This transformative experience has enriched my leadership skills and deepened my capacity to lead inclusively and effectively.

– Davidek Herron, Head of Digital Engagements

The Inclusive Leadership Excellence Program challenged me to reflect deeply on my leadership style and gave me the tools to foster a more inclusive and innovative team dynamic. It’s a game-changer for any leader committed to building stronger, more connected teams.

more inclusive definition of Executive Presence

HBR article

I am always on the lookout for opportunities to support and promote diversity and inclusion in both small and large ways. One of the bigger initiatives I am engaged in is chairing Genentech Women in Science and Engineering (gWiSE), founded in 2011 to address the lack of women in leadership positions in R&D at Genentech. We have so much to be proud of regarding gender equity at Genentech, including equal pay and dramatically narrowing the gender gap in leadership to near-parity (HBR article). However, the CDO office has identified some Gender Representation Opportunity Zones. Most of these are in areas with high concentrations of Scientists and Engineers, which is where gWiSE comes in! gWiSE is committed to supporting the advancement and development of women in professional and leadership roles in science & engineering. To fulfill this goal, we have created a series of programs to engage and support women in fulfilling their career aspirations. In 2023, with the support of Aviv Regev (EVP & Global Head, gRED), gWISE worked with the Chief Diversity Office (CDO) to create a more inclusive definition of Executive Presence that incorporates our cultural values, such as caring and courage, while deemphasizing some of the narrow, superficial aspects of style that may have limited our ability to support and promote diverse leaders and inclusive culture in the past. Since creating this definition last year, we have made significant progress in driving the adoption of this expanded definition of leadership within the organization, working in partnership with teams in our CareerLab, People & Culture, and gRED to incorporate elements of gWiSE’s more inclusive definition of executive presence in training, coaching and development work across the organization. Finally, to kick off 2024, we made the membership and the core team of gWiSE itself much more inclusive. While gWiSE was founded as an organization for women in gRED, PD, and Pharma Technical Development (PTD), in the past year, we expanded our membership to include all women in science and engineering roles at Genentech. This has also expanded our core team, which better represents our community of women across Genentech, by adding women from Pharma Technical Cell & Gene Therapy (PTC), Pharma Technical Quality (PTQ), and global IT.
