Before the Fax

The first fax machine, known as The Pantelegraph, was invented by Italian physicist Giovanni Caselli in 1865.Pantelegraph. It used a combination of mechanical and electrical systems to transmit images over telegraph lines. The machine could send handwriting, drawings, or other graphical content.This pioneering invention laid the foundation for modern fax machines, though true modern fax technology did not emerge until the 20th century with advances in telecommunications.

What was invented first?

First: The concept of faxing was introduced by Alexander Bain in 1843 with his electric telegraph-based fax machine.Second: The first computer printer was developed in 1953 by Remington-Rand for the UNIVAC I computer.The analog line fax machine was created over a century before the computer printer. Alexander Bain's fax machine (1843) was operational long before computers even existed, while the first computer printer didn’t appear until the mid-20th century.
