Improving Students Critical Thinking Skills Using AI
- Discussed results of the teacher survey identifying our focus area
- Analyzed and discussed the teacher's previous observations and stratagies to determine what was successful and what wasn't
- Decided which tool we would utillize to tackle the challenge identified via the teacher survey.
Last Session Review
- Students demonstrate moderate critical thinking skills during bell ringers but show a growing willingness to engage in problem-solving, approaching challenges with less concern about making mistakes.
- Students tend to perform better when practice is presented through multiple-choice questions; however, they struggle to complete problems requiring them to show their work or explain their reasoning. This suggests a gap in their critical thinking skills and their ability to process information independently
- When students submit their independent work, there often appears to be a significant disconnect between the understanding they demonstrate during bell ringers and class discussions.
- During class discussions, students show a strong eagerness to grasp the concepts being taught, demonstrating a high level of comprehension with minimal misconceptions.

Recent studies found that AI tools intergrated into customized curriculum significantly improved students ability to analyze and evaluate information as well as, improve their logical reasoning skills (Mayasari et al., 2024).
Research has shown that AI tools support the development of critical thinking by fostering analytical skills, and offering personalized feedback that allows the student to work through problems deepening their decision making skills (Bianchi, 2024).
