What are modal verbs?
Modal verbs are auxiliaries that modify the meaning of the main verb to express possibility, ability, obligation, permission, advice, or necessity. They don’t function alone; they are always followed by a base verb (infinitive without "to").
Main Modal Verbs and Their Uses:
Could
Can
Past form of can, also used for suggestions or possibilities
Expresses ability or possibility.
May
Must
Expresses possibility or formal permission.
Expresses strong obligation or logical deduction.

Used for hypothetical situations or as the past form of will.
Expresses advice or expectation.
