DEFINITION OF SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

On the other hand, we understand sport as a physical activity, carried out as a game or competition, the practice of which involves entertainment and adherence to rules. This sporting activity is carried out inside a specific physical state.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines physical activity as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires the consumption of energy.
It is common to confuse the terms sport and physical activity. The difference between the words is that sport has a competitive value, while physical activity is carried out for personal satisfaction and recreation.

DEFINITION OF HEALTH:

Contrary to what most people think, the health is clasified into three different groups:
  • Physical. This is the one that we would all say that is the main one and it is the one that focuses on our own body. Then, if we are in good physical condition and we do not have any diseases, we are in good physical health.
  • Mental. This health group focuses on what we have in our mind. If you can manage all the stresses and troubles of your daily life without having a breakdown, you have good mental health.
  • Social. This type of health is the least studied of all the mentioned, but it is just as important as the others. It focuses on how we relate to others. If you have no problems in, for example, having a conversation with other people.
These three points are equally important. If any one of these is not fulfilled, you cannot be considered as a healthy person.

BENEFIts of practising sport or doing physical activity for health:

Physical activity, both moderate and intense, is essential for maintaining and improving health and preventing diseases for all people and at any age.
* What are the health benetifs of physical activity?

· In children and adolescents: it improves physical fitness, cardiometabolic bone health, cognitive ability and mental health. Also at these ages, it reduces body fat and promotes social integration, fosters sociability and personal autonomy. · In adults and the elderly: it reduces the risk of mortality from causes and from cardiovascular diseases, the appearance of hypertension, cancers in specific areas and the appearance of type 2 diabetes. It also reduces the possibility of falls and serves to improve mental health, cognitive health, sleep and body measurements. · In women during pregnancy: it reduces gestational hypertension, gestational dibetes, excessive weight gain during pregnancy, complications during pregnancy, postpartum depression and complications in the newborn. In conclusion, practising physical activity or some sport regularly not only benefits our health, but sport is also an ideal tool to take care of mental health, regardless of the age of the person who practises it.

Consequences of a sedentary lifestyle for health:

To understand this, you first need to know that a sedentary lifestyle is any state in which there is little energy spent over a long period of time.A sedentary lifestyle affects health:
  • Physical. A sedentary lifestyle affects us because, as there is little energy expenditure, we can lose our physical condition and may even end up with an illness.
  • Mental. A sedentary lifestyle is bad for us because, according to several researches by the World Health Organisation (WHO), it makes us more irritable and annoyed by the minimum error.
  • Social. A sedentary lifestyle is harmful to humans because, as we do not leave the house, we interact less with people. When we succeed, we have a lot of difficulty to talk with them.
