Introduction

Known for his vibrant traditions and breathtaking natural beauty, Portugal is a country rich in history and culture.

Portugal is a country located in the south-western corner of Europe, occupying most of the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula with a population of around 10.3 million.

The official language of Portugal is Portuguese, which is spoken by more than 250 million people around the world. Traditions include festivals such as Carnival and the celebration of Santos Populares in June.

Lisbon, the capital, is known for his historic architecture and vibrant nightlife. Other important cities include Porto, famous for his wine and Coimbra, with the ancient university.

Portugal, one of the oldest countries in Europe, was founded in 1143. His history is marked by the Maritime Discoveries, which brought nations like Brazil and India into cultural and economic conversation.

The Carnation Revolution of 25 April 1974 brought the dictatorship in Portugal to a peaceful end, marking the beginning of democracy and the end of the colonial wars. It is celebrated as Freedom Day.

Arraiolos

The town is also famous for its medieval castle, unique for its circular layout, and its typical streets of white houses with blue details.

Arraiolos is a picturesque village in the district of Évora, in the Alentejo. It is known worldwide for its hand-embroidered carpets, a craft tradition that dates back to the 16th century and has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
