Le Preterit - Leçon Le preterit, ou "simple past" est le temps du passé qui exprime une action terminée. Il existe deux catégories de verbes afin de les conjuguer au preterit : A/ les verbes réguliers On ajoute -ED à la fin du verbe. example : I talked to my friend yesterday. I listened to the teacher in class B/ Les verbes irréguliers Il est nécessaire d'apprendre par coeur les formes preterit de ces verbes. example : to go : I went to Canada last year. to sleep : I slept in my bed last night.

Le Preterit - Leçon A la forme negative, je vais ajouter l'auxiliaire "do" au preterit : "DID", auquel j'ajoute "not". Le verbe passe alors à l'infinitif. sujet + did + not + verbe a l'infinitif exemple : I did not do my homework Did et not peuvent être contractés pour devenir "didn't" example : I didn't learn my lesson Exception: le verbe be, au preterit, ne s'emploie pas avec did. on utilise "not" avec was ou were : wasn't / weren't example : i wasn't at school yesterday we weren't home last night
