Summary
The essence of Thalie
Hi ! My name is Thalie, I'm 19 and I'm from France. The following slides will reveal more about me and why I want to chair the Aosta regional session! While reading my application, you can listen to Tatiana by La Femme (click the snowflake). I chose this song because it's one of my favorites from a French band that I saw in concert, and it's also the song I remind my best friend of. Enjoy !
Me and my song
On the afternoon of the 8th of July 2005, a baby girl was born. It was said by those close to the family that it was the pinkest baby they had ever seen. This little girl was named Thalie, and this little girl is me. Now, many people spend their entire lives searching for their purpose, their core essence, or their true self. But for me, the journey has been one of discovery through the intersection of my experiences, my values, and the way I engage with the world. So, let me take you on a short journey through what makes me, me—and hopefully, it will resonate with what makes you, you. Coming from Greek mythology, Thalie is also the name of the muse of comedy, which is seen as an art, and this may be why I have a strong interest in creativity, as it shows in my study field: visual studies, media, and digital art. But creativity isn’t just about art—it’s about thinking differently, solving problems, integrating innovation, and expressing ideas that make an impact. Along with creativity, my curiosity drives me to explore new ideas, cultures, and experiences. It’s the thrill of discovering something new, connecting the dots, and expanding my understanding of the world. Also, connecting with people is central to everything I do. I believe in the power of building deep, meaningful relationships. I share the belief of growing from and with each other, as my experiences can help anyone, and theirs can help me improve myself. Whether through shared experiences or emotional bonds, connection is what makes one’s life rich and meaningful. The essence of who I am is a blend of authenticity, compassion, growth, creativity, curiosity, and connection. These values guide me, and together, they create the enthusiasm that drives my life.

My motivations and hopes
I was drawn to the role of Chairperson because of my strong commitment to creating a safe environment that fosters collaboration and the sharing of experiences. I believe team leading goes beyond just making or approving decisions; it involves empowering others, encouraging innovation, and inclusivity. My personal goal is to chair while simultaneously learning from others. I would also like to experiment with a new chairing style, mixing together my previous experiences to obtain the best of them. I wish to do topic tailoring, which I already know I enjoy doing, but push it further by fully creating tailored team building and conflict games. In my opinion, it allows delegates to be immersed in the topic throughout the session. From my previous experiences as Media Team Member and Editorial Assistant, I would like to implement in my Topic Overview more graphic elements to enhance the reading experience for the delegates and to help them understand the topic better. My primary objective as Chairperson is not only to guide them through the resolutions drafting process, but also to teach my delegates how to engage in safe and respectful discussions. Most importantly, I want to inspire them to continue their journey with EYP by providing them with an experience that is memorable. This role gives me the opportunity to leverage my strengths in communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills while also learning from my peers in the process. Through my experience of chairing in Aosta, I hope to enhance my academic writing skills, as well as improve my team leadership and problem-solving abilities, ultimately aiming to chair a national session in my future in EYP.
Support and guidance in my committee
Support and guidance
To ensure that my committee receives the right level of support and guidance without micromanaging, I would adopt a balanced approach that fosters trust, collaboration, and autonomy.First, I would set clear, measurable objectives from the outset, ensuring that every delegate understands their responsibilities and how their contributions fit into the larger vision of the committee. This clarity helps the committee stay on track while empowering members to make decisions within their scope. Then, delegating tasks with confidence on the committee is key. I would trust each committee member’s abilities, on time management or having discussions for example, allowing them to manage their responsibilities. Providing the necessary resources and autonomy allows them to thrive without feeling micromanaged. While working, I will most of the time pair them or put them in small groups (depending on the number of delegates I have) depending on their different personalities that could be complementary. I would avoid stepping in, unless there is a clear need for intervention, making my support reactive rather than overdoing it. With the same vision, I would offer guidance through mentorship rather than micromanagement, helping members grow in their roles. Providing opportunities for skill-building and leadership development ensures that the committee not only succeeds in the short term but is also set up for long-term success. Finally, constructive feedback helps ensure the committee stays aligned with goals. I would provide feedback on progress and celebrate milestones, encouraging a sense of accomplishment and motivation. Recognising members’ contributions ensures they feel valued and trusted, reducing the need for close supervision. On the same page as learning from others, I will ask them for feedback on my chairing, so they feel heard and I can improve myself and adapt my techniques for them. Through these practices, I would maintain a supportive environment that fosters independence and individuality, while still offering the necessary guidance to help the committee have a fruitful experience.
