Elizabeth.Garcia@arlingtontx.gov
Every year the city selects a group of eligible pavement candidates for major repair. That is, outside the regular repairs (like pothole and asphalt level up), the city contracts out repairs such as Crack Seal, Mill & Overlay and Reclamation. The pavement analyst for Public Works assists with generating the candidate list of eligible streets.
Step 1: Pavement Evaluation
The first task is evaluating the Overall Condition Index (OCI) of the pavement to determine repair eligibility. The type of pavement (asphalt vs. concrete) is also factored into this evaluation, as it can impact the type of repair needed.
Step 4: Final Candidate Selection
After review and discussion, the streets are further analyzed for any additional factors that might affect eligibility. Final decisions are made on which streets will be prioritized for repairs. Final Selection The finalized list of streets for Crack Seal, Mill & Overlay, and Reclamation repairs is confirmed, and the repair schedule is established.
Step 3: Data Visualization and Review
For presentation to management, the findings from Scenario Builder are exported into an Arc Dashboard. The Arc Dashboard provides a clear, interactive map of potential candidates, along with key data points on the OCI and suggested repair year. This dashboard is used for upper management review and discussion.
