Parent Input is Important!

The team needs your input about your child's educational history, strengths, and needs

Specialists Provide Needed Support

School Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Counselors, and Other Specialists offer expertise in specific areas of support.

The student is at the center of the IEP process:

  • The Special Education teacher works with the student to determine strengths and areas of need.
  • Students can attend their IEP meetings when developmentally appropriate. At the meeting they can share their goals, strengths, needs, etc.

Special Education and General Education Teachers Work Together

Teachers collaborate to design and implement the instructional strategies that support your child's learning. General Education teachers provide valuable feedback that the Special Education teacher uses to ensure the plan is being adhered to and is appropriate.

Local Education Agency (LEA)

The Local Education Agency is the person representing the school district in an official capacity. This includes the principal, assistant principal, or other designee.
