Parent Input is Important!
School Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Counselors, and Other Specialists offer expertise in specific areas of support.
Specialists Provide Needed Support
- The Special Education teacher works with the student to determine strengths and areas of need.
- Students can attend their IEP meetings when developmentally appropriate. At the meeting they can share their goals, strengths, needs, etc.
The student is at the center of the IEP process:
Teachers collaborate to design and implement the instructional strategies that support your child's learning. General Education teachers provide valuable feedback that the Special Education teacher uses to ensure the plan is being adhered to and is appropriate.
Special Education and General Education Teachers Work Together
