This session will provide context for understanding why property professionals should be aware of certain areas of law. If you engage actively with questions, polls, and tasks it helps to cement the learning you've completed so far.

How much do I need to know about law?

• As a property professional, you should understand key legal areas and case law that may affect the valuation but you don't need to have the competence of a solicitor.
• There can be legal aspects apparent on property viewings which should be referred to in reports.
• Although there is no law exam included in this qualification, you will be required to pass some multiple-choice tests, and submit the certificate of completion with your assessment portfolio.

• You don't have to memorise all aspects of the learning; rather, focus on understanding the application of law in the context of a surveyor and valuer's role.
