Proximal Epiphysis

Location: The top part of the bone. Located on the proximal end (closes to the skull) Important information: At birth, the proximal epiphysis is mostly cartilage! as you grow, the proximal epiphysis gets smaller and turns into hard bone

Distal Epiphysis

Location: The distal end of the bone (closer to the feet) Important Information: Just like the proximal epiphysis, at birth, the distal epiphysis hardens as bone grows and gets smaller.
