What are they?
Consumer organizations are entities, often non-profit, that work to protect and promote the rights of consumers. They act as intermediaries between consumers and companies or governments
Defense of Rights: They act to ensure that consumer rights, as set out in legislation, are respected. Information and Education: They provide information about products, services and market practices, helping consumers to make informed choices. Support and Complaints: They help consumers to resolve conflicts with companies or service providers.
Functions of Consumer Organizations
DECO Proteste (Portugal): Offers support to consumers, carries out studies and tests and provides guidance on rights. Consumers International: Global network that brings together various consumer organizations to promote rights on a global scale. Which? (United Kingdom): Tests products and services, publishes reviews and defends consumer interests.
