The beginnings

  • he was born the 23 October 1940 in a small and poor city in Brasil
  • In 1956 he did a tryout with Santos
  • The same year he made his professional debut and he scored a goal
  • The next year he made the debut with Brasil

The career

  • In 1958 he played his first World cup and he won it. He scored two goals in the final becoming famous all over the world
  • He won the World cup in 1962 and in 1970
  • He scored 97 goals with Brasil and 1088 with Santos becoming one of the best players in the world

The end

  • He ended his career with the New York Cosmos in 1977
  • They made 5 films of his story
  • In the 1995 he was nominated Minister of Sport in Brasil
  • He died in 2022
