What is copyright?
Copyright is a legal protection granted to creators of original works, such as articles, literature, music and software. It gives the creator exclusive rights to use, distribute and reproduce their work, preventing others from doing so without permission.

Module 1
- Literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works, sound recordings, films and broadcasts.
- The typographical arrangements (i.e. the layout) of published editions.
What the law says
Expression not the idea
Copyright law covers the expression of ideas, not the ideas themselves. If two people write exactly the same song without copying, they will each own the copyright to their own lyrics.
Key Laws and Regulations
