The Pasamezzo is a Renaissance danze popular in Italy during the 16th and 17th centuries. It is characterized by a moderate binary rhythm and a repetitive harmonic pattern. There were two variants: The Pasamezzo antico and The Pasamezzo moderno,distinguished by their chord progressions. It was widely used in instrumental and vocal music.
