What is Environmental Pollution ?
Environmental Pollution refers to the contamination of the natural environment by substances or energy that cause harm to living organisms and ecosystems. It disrupts the balance of ecosystems and poses risks to human health, wildlife, and the planet.
Water pollution: It occurs when rivers, lakes and oceans are contaminated by industrial waste, plastics, chemicals and sewage.
Types of environmental pollution
Air pollution: Caused by toxic gases, smoke, particles and chemicals emitted by factories, vehicles and fuel burning.
What is the impact on marine life?
The plastic problem in the oceans is critical
Since 2019, global initiatives such as The Ocean Cleanup have managed to remove hundreds of thousands of tons. For example: In 2023, The Ocean Cleanup reported removing more than 200,000 tons from the ocean. Small organizations and local cleanups add thousands more each year.
