THE START OF THE HURRICANE

On September 29, 2024, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) started monitoring a low-pressure area in the western Caribbean Sea. By October 4, this pressure area became bigger and more dangerous after interacting with a high-pressure area . Just some hours later, on October 5 at 15:00 , the NHC upgraded it to tropical depression fourteen. Within two hours, it strengthened into tropical storm Milton.

Hurricane Milton crossed Florida from west to east between October 9th and 10th, causing damage and destruction. It was the second Category 5 hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season and was the world's strongest tropical cyclone in 2024 so far.

Hurricane Milton was an extremely powerful and destructive tropical cyclone which became the second-most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded over the Gulf of Mexico, behind only Hurricane Rita in 2005.
