Hypothesis
ONLINE BOOK CLUBS FOR PRETEENS AND TEENS
Meda 5950-901
Rationale: Based on the reading, the overall premise of this article is to discuss online book clubs and how they can be successfully implemented. This direct quote discusses the importance of online book clubs and where they can be implemented for students to have the best access to the online book clubs. While not explicit, this quote from the research seems to relate back to the main idea of the research analysis closely.
After rereading the article, I chose this quote:
"Many book clubs geared for adolescents are school-based, occurring before, during, or after school with teachers, but researchers are beginning to take notice of the possibilities that exist for literacy and learning outside the classroom, including possibilities offered through community libraries. Public library online book clubs are sites of possibility – a medium through whichlibraries can readily encourage literate practices in younger generations."
What exactly is the hypothesis in this article?
There was plenty of research within the article, including different platforms and models of online book clubs. Within this research, they discussed the best practices to design a "cool" online bookc club (p. 181), finding online book clubs that work (p. 182), and mentioning throughout the success of book clubs both in person and online. Within the hypothesis, it mentioned how using the public library can increase the outcome of online book clubs blossoming. On page 187, it is noted within the research that the Teens Online book club is partnering with librarians who ran a succesful book club to help them opperate. I believe there was sufficient data within this proposal to support the given hypothesis.
Was it tested properly?
