The end of the war
Introduction
World War I ended with Germany surrendering to the side known as The Allies. To secure this peace, The Allies created a peace treaty called The Treaty of Versailles after many meetings in Paris. The Treaty of Versailles, made in the Palace of Versailles, was mainly decided by the Big Three(Georges Clemenceau ,Prime Minister of France, Woodrow Wilson, President of the USA, David Lloyd George, Prime Minister of Great Britain), made many demands of the German's, such as the following:
- Give up most of their weapons.
- Pay reparations equivalent to 269 billion gold marks(which was Germany's currency back then).
- Reduce their army to 100,000 men.
- Give up territory.
- Accept blame for starting World War I.
HOW THE NAZI'S GAINED POLITICAL POWER
GERMANY'S IMPACT ON THE WAR
After the war, Germany was in debt by 150 million. Across WW1, 2 million troops died and 763000 also died. Germany almost invaded every country successfully and had the highest amount of troops. Everyone was traumatised because of this and the Nazi's were officially in control.
The Germans' wanted someone to avenge them from the humiliation they were facing.
They saw faith in a young man, named Adolf Hitler, who had experience from World War I and thought that he could avenge them from their humiliatoion.
They helped Adolf Hitler to rise in power until he became the head of the Nazi party.
Hitler also was extremely influencing and got many people to help him to rise to power.
Hiter became the head of the Nazi party and began to do the thing that the Germans' had wanted him to do all along: get revenge.
Hitler did this by invading Poland, and when The Allies asked Germany to take out their troops, they refused to remove them which showed that they were declaring war.
End of the war
The end of the war resulted in Germany surrendering to the Allies as, after D-Day, the Allies had had the advantage. Hitlerhad also left the war after Germany had declared that they were surrendering. After the war, Germany was in debt by 150 million. Across WW1, 2 million troops died and 763000 also died.
